John Walter Kotleski

John Walter Kotleski, 76, of Silver Street died Thursday at Great Barrington Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Great Barrington on July 12, 1929, son of Stephen and Victoria Bazonski Kotleski, he was a 1947 graduate of the former Searles High School. He served in the Army from 1947 to 1967, attaining the rank of sergeant first class. He served on Honshu Island, Japan, and was an attaché with the American Embassy in Tehran, Iran, and in Helsinki, Finland, retiring from the U.S. Attaché Service. He received several campaign medals. He was a communicant of St. Peter's Church and a member of James Modollo Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8348. He leaves two sisters, Kathryn Parzick of Tom's River, N.J., and Adele McReynolds of Cottonwood, Ariz. FUNERAL NOTICE -- A military funeral for John W. Kotleski, who died Thursday, Nov. 24, will be Wednesday, Nov. 30, at 9 at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Peter's Church celebrated by the Rev. Shaun O'Connor, MIC. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Nov. 29, from 2 to 5 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in John's memory may be made to St. Peter's Church in care of the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
