CHARLES VOOS

Charles Voos, 73, of Green River Road, Alford, died Friday, December 22, 2000, at his home. Born on September 22, 1927 in Cologne, Germany, he was the son of Henry and Johanna Berlin Voos. He attended schools and served his apprenticeship in England. In 1952 he immigrated to Canada, where he was the executive chef at the National Club in Toronto. He was also president of the Canadian Food Association. Mr. Voos came to the United States in 1966, to North Egremont, where he owned and operated the Elm Court Inn. Charles also owned the Sheffield Package Store in Sheffield, and later the Cilldara House in Great Barrington. After his retirement, he managed and operated the Koussevitsky Supper Club at Seranak for the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Charles Voos is survived by his wife of thirty four years, the former Mary Kelly, whom he married in 1966 at St. Peter'e Church in Great Barrington. A Memorial Service for Mr. Voos, will be held Wednesday, December 27, 2000 at one PM at the Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home, with the Rev. Leigh Smith, Chaplain of Berkshire Medical Center, officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends from 11 AM, until the time of the service on Wednesday, at the funeral home. Donations may be made in Charles Voos' memory to the Friends of Renal Dialysis, or to HospiceCare of the Berkshires in care of the Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home, 426 Main Street, Great Barrington, MA 01230.
