Maurice Champagne

Maurice Champagne, 70, of 342 Route 7 died Wednesday morning at home. Born in Montreal on July 28, 1930, son of Emile and Rollaude Desalliers Champagne, he attended schools there. Mr. Champagne was master chef and owner of The Mill on the Floss Restaurant for 28 years. He was a fan of horse racing, tennis and ice hockey. He leaves his wife, the former Jane Slattery, whom he married Oct. 15, 1961; a daughter, Suzanne Champagne Ivy of Dalton; two sons, Peter Maurice Champagne of Brookfield, Conn., and Marc M. Champagne of Takoma Park, Md.; two brothers, Roger Champagne and Jean Paul Champagne, both of Montreal; a sister, Claudette Duval of Montreal, and four grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held Sunday afternoon, July 29, from 1 to 5 p.m. at The Mill on the Floss Restaurant on Route 7, New Ashford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for HospiceCare of the Berkshires or to the International Myeloma Foundation through the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, which are in charge of arrangements.
