Marie Whitmarsh

Marie V. Whitmarsh, 85, of 25 Wealthy Ave. and Kings Way, Port Orange, Fla., died yesterday morning at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Mascotte, Fla., on Aug. 31, 1915, daughter of John M. and Laura C. Drawdy Brown, she attended schools there and moved to this area in 1947. She moved to Florida this past year. A homemaker, she was employed as a cashier at Berkshire Medical Center for 10 years prior to her retirement in 1976. Mrs. Whitmarsh was a member of First Baptist Church and a member of the Billie Harris Chapter of the Women's League. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, crocheting, sewing, and making dolls and doll clothing. She also enjoyed story keeping and giving the family history. Her husband, Raymond W. Whitmarsh, whom she married April 6, 1935, died April 30, 1980. She leaves two daughters, Barbara J. Cousineau and Patricia A. Niles, both of Port Orange; two sons, James R. Whitmarsh of Port Orange, and Ronald P. Whitmarsh of Dalton; a brother, Alton Brown of Jacksonville, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandson. Calling hours at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME will be Friday from 4 to 7. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 9 at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Robert Rennie, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Main Street Cemetery in Dalton. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
