Elizabeth Kordek

Elizabeth Rose Kordek, 87, of 19 1/2 Spring Street Extension died Saturday at North Adams Regional Hospital shortly after being admitted. Born in Pittsfield on Sept. 11, 1913, daughter of Frank and Rose Mary Grzib Kordek, she moved to North Adams as a child and attended local schools. In her younger years, she was employed by the former Hoosac Cotton Mills. She retired in 1971 from the former Jarisch Paper Box Co. Miss Kordek was a lifelong communicant of St. Francis' Church. She leaves two sisters, Mary Kordek Mattau of Gansevoort, N.Y., and Helen E. Kordek, with whom she made her home. The funeral will be tomorrow, June 19, 2001, at 10:15 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, North Adams. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be from 9:30 until the time of the service. Memorial donations are suggested for the St. Francis Building Fund or to a charity of the donor's choice through the funeral home. Predeceased by two sisters, Rose Kordek Fredericks in March 1973 and Bertha Kordek Mendel in February 2000.
