M. Connie Iorio

M. Connie Iorio, 74, of Providence Court died Saturday evening at Hillcrest Commons, where she had resided for 2 1/2 years. Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 15, 1927, daughter of Nicholas and Carmella Canino Angelini Iorio, she attended Pittsfield High School. A waitress, she first worked at the former Carnute's Diner and retired from the General Electric Athletic Association club on Crane Avenue in 1980 after 35 years of service. She attended St. Charles' Church and was an avid bingo player. She enjoyed cooking, baking and playing cards. In her earlier years, she enjoyed dancing. She leaves three sons, former City Councilor Angelo C. Stracuzzi, Anthony C. Stracuzzi and Steven R. White, all of Pittsfield; a daughter, Donna M. Smith of Pittsfield; a brother, Joseph Iorio of Adams; two sisters, Rosemarie Iorio McLaughlin of Pittsfield and Govana Iorio of West Swanzey, N.H., and 10 grandchildren. Calling hours at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME will be tomorrow from 4 to 7. The funeral will be Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Charles' Church celebrated by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor. Following cremation, burial will be Thursday at St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Make-a-Wish Foundation in care of the funeral home.
