Irma A. Angell

Irma A. Angell, 86, died yesterday at the home of her daughter, Patricia A. Barbalunga, in Pittsfield. Born in Mascoutah, Ill., on May 2, 1915, daughter of Arthur and Anna Haas Friederich, she attended schools there. She was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Mascoutah for 36 years, retiring in 1970 as postmaster. Mrs. Angell was a communicant of Holy Childhood of Jesus Church in Mascoutah and St. Charles' Church in Pittsfield. She was also a member of the Women's Altar Society at Holy Childhood of Jesus Church. Her husband, Hiram Angell, whom she married July 4, 1942, died June 6, 1968. Besides her daughter, she leaves a brother, Arthur Friederich of Mascoutah; four sisters, Sally Colone of Collinsville, Ill., Dorothy Sarie of Belleville, Ill., Carmel Bauer of Troy, Ill., and Ann Nevenner of O'Fallon, Ill.; and two grandchildren. Services will be held early next week, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at Holy Childhood of Jesus Church in Mascoutah. Burial will take place in the Holy Childhood Catholic Cemetery. A wake service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Eagles Nest, the family home, and celebrated by the Rev. Peter Gregory, pastor of St. Charles' Church. Calling hours will be held at the family home at Eagles Nest from 2 to 8. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made the HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
