Marcel Meunier

Marcel Meunier, 78, of 12080 Southwest Highway 484, Dunnellon, Fla., formerly of Pittsfield, died Saturday at Sunshine Gardens nursing home in Dunnellon. Born in Burlington, Vt., on March 12, 1923, son of Joseph Noel Meunier and Palma Burrell Meunier, he attended schools there until going to work at a bakery to support his family. Mr. Meunier was a corporal and served with distinction in the Army Medical Corps in the Asian and Pacific theaters during World War II. After the war, he moved to Pittsfield in 1946, where he resided for 37 years. He operated a retail home bread route for six years until becoming employed by Frito-Lay and Utica Club. He was then employed as a custodian in the Pittsfield Public Schools and the Pittsfield police station for 11 years. After retiring, he moved to Florida in 1983. His wife of 58 years, the former Marion Bombard, died April 7. He leaves three sons, Harold Meunier of Santa Fe, N.M., Wayne Meunier of Pittsfield and Mark Meunier of Birmingham, Ala.; four daughters, Marianne Meunier of Lee, Brenda Marby and Wanda Booth, both of Pittsfield, and Mona Meunier of Stephentown; his twin brother, Armand of Minneola, Fla., and St. Albans, Vt.; a sister, Augustine Meunier of Burlington; 14 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. The PAGE-THEUS FUNERAL HOME handled final arrangements in Leesburg, Fla., and a memorial service was held at Sunshine Gardens. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association in care of Wayne Meunier, 49 Gamwell Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
