Anne C. (McKay) Spink

Anne C. (McKay) Spink, 91, of 79 Marietta St. North Adams, MA, died Thursday, June 21, 2001 at the Sweet Brook Health Care Center in Williamstown, MA. She was born in Leigh, Lancashire, England on July 5, 1909, a daughter of the late Joseph McKay and Ann (Wilkinson) McKay. She came to the United States at the age of three and attended schools in North Adams, MA. She graduated valedictorian of her class from the former St. Joseph’s Parochial High School in North Adams in 1926. Mrs. Spink was employed in the chemistry lab at the former Arnold Print Works in North Adams, MA untiI her marriage in 1933. Mrs. Spink was a longtime communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church, North Adams where she served as an extraordinary minister and was a founding member of it rosary society. She was an active volunteer with the American Red Cross and with Dr. Collier Wright founded the Northern Berkshire Heart Clinic for the American Heart Association. She also was a volunteer at the North Adams Regional Hospital and a troop leader for many years for the Girl Scouts of America. She also was a member of the Hairpin Turners Square Dance Group. She was the widow of Douglas Graham Spink whom she married June 24,1933. He died April 29,1973. Survivors include 1 Son : Dr. Douglas G. Spink, Jr. of Longmeadow, MA, 9 Grandchildren : Douglas G. Spink III-Needham, MA, Bradley T. Spink, Westwood,MA, Dr. Michael J. Spink of New York, New York, Steven Boucher & Mark Boucher of Adams, MA, Laurie Ann Briggs of North Adams, MA, Serena Y ansak of Pittsfield, MA, and Denise Meranti & Jeffrey Boucher of North Adams. 10 greatgrandchildren, 1 Brother: Francis “Frank” McKay of North Adams. She was predeceased by a daughter Patricia A. Boucher who died October 4, 2000 and a sister Marie Agnes Fullerton who died March 11, 2000. Funeral Services for Anne C. (McKay) Spink will take place Tuesday morning at 10: 15 A.M. at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St. North Adama, MA, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 :00 A.M. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, North Adams, MA. Burial will follow in the family plot in Southview Cemetery, North Adams, MA. Calling Hours at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, WEST CHAPELS,521 West Main St. North Adams, are Monday from 4-7 P.M. Memorial Donations are suggested for the St. Francis Church Building fund through the Funeral Home.
