Raymond Record

Raymond Martin Record, 85, of Heritage Commons, 38 Boston Road, Middletown, Conn., former longtime resident of 172 Houghton St., North Adams, died Tuesday at Wadsworth Glen Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Middletown. Born in North Adams on April 22, 1916, son of Herbert Manning Record and Florence Morse Record, he attended North Adams schools, including Drury High School. In his younger years, Mr. Record was employed by the former Arnold Print Works on Marshall Street for 10 years. He was then employed as a tool and die maker in the power transformer division of General Electric Co. in Pittsfield. When he retired after 40 years of service in 1981, he was head of tool and die inspection for the company. He received several awards for the improvements in the function of dies to reduce waste. He also served on several of the company's panels dealing with precision instrumentation and measurement. He was a longtime communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church and a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners clubs. He leaves his wife of 64 years, the former Julia Margaret Musk, whom he married Aug. 29, 1936, in St. Anthony of Padua Church; a son, Daniel Jude Record of Cromwell, Conn., and two grandchildren. A son, Daniel Raymond Record, died Jan. 13, 1947. Funeral services will take place Saturday, June 30, at 10:30 a.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 70 Marshall St., North Adams. Burial in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home are Saturday, June 30, from 9:30 until the funeral. Memorial donations for the St. Anthony Building Fund or the North Adams Ambulance Service through the funeral home. Predeceased by a son, Daniel R. Record, on Jan. 13, 1947, and sisters Alice Record Goddard on July 19, 1987, and Mildred Record Sweeney on Nov. 9, 1998.
