Richard J. Corseri

Richard J. Corseri, 79, of 40 Cecelia Terrace died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 31, 1921, son of Vincenzo and Guiseppena Cuva Corseri, he graduated from the former Central High School. An Army veteran of World War II, he served in the European Theater and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was employed as a postal clerk at the U.S. Post Office in Pittsfield for 22 years, retiring in 1984. Previously, he was employed at the former Campus Girl garment factory from 1945 to 1962. After his retirement, he was employed by Berkshire Physicians and Surgeons as a mail clerk for 10 years. A communicant of St. Mark's Church, Mr. Corseri was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. His wife, the former Helen K. Fletcher, whom he married May 19, 1945, in St. Mark's Church, died Sept. 30, 2000. He leaves two daughters, Christine M. Corseri and Debra A. Cobb, both of Pittsfield, and a granddaughter. Funeral services will be tomorrow, Friday, June 29, at 11:15 from DWYER FUNERAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at noon in St. Mark's Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be today, Thursday, from 4 to 7 at Dwyer Funeral Home. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to St. Mark's Church in care of the Dwyer Funeral Home. Mr. Corseri was predeceased by a brother, Anthony J. Corseri, and a sister, Mary Puleri.
