Sherry S. Lobel

Sherry S. Lobel, 82, of 235 Walker St., formerly of New York City, died yesterday at Kimball Farms Lifecare in Lenox. Born in New York City on June 5, 1919, daughter of Mano and Henriette Nussbaum Friedman, she was educated in New York schools and was a graduate of Hunter High School in New York City. She was employed as a real estate broker on Long Island for more than 30 years. She moved to New York City in 1980 and moved to Lenox in 2000. Mrs. Lobel enjoyed singing and music, particularly Tanglewood, gardening and political volunteering. She was also an accomplished sculptor and painter. Her husband, Alan H. Lobel, whom she married Feb. 2, 1943, died March 21, 1978. She leaves a daughter, Cathy Lobel Kerner of Stockbridge; a son, Peter D. Lobel of New York City, and two grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Thursday at 4 p.m. at Stockbridge Cemetery with Rabbi David Small, spiritual leader of Knesset Israel Synagogue, officiating. Shiva will be observed at the home of Cathy Lobel Kerner in New York City. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to Tanglewood in care of the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, which is handling arrangements.
