Thomas J. Wright

Thomas J. Wright, 82, of 50 Westminster St. died yesterday at home. Born in Pittsfield on Oct. 19, 1918, son of Thomas S. and Nellie Brown Wright, he was a 1937 graduate of Pittsfield High School. An Army veteran of World War II, he served in Europe and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. He was employed as a furnace operator in the power transformer department of General Electric Co. and retired in 1981 after 40 years of service. Mr. Wright was a communicant of St. Mary's Church. He was a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners clubs, the 101st Airborne Division Association, Post 448 VFW, the American Legion Post 155 in Dalton, IUE 255 and the Ralph Froio Senior Center. He leaves his wife, the former Yvette H. Deragon Hyland; two sons, Paul K. Wright of Pittsfield and Allan T. Wright of Somerville; and five grandchildren. A daughter, Nancy L. Baumann of Cheshire, died Dec. 25, 1994. Funeral services will be Friday, June 29, at 8:15 from DWYER FUNERAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 in St. Mary's Church, celebrated by the Rev. Paul Bombardier, administrator. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be today, Thursday, June 28, from 4 to 7 at Dwyer Funeral Home. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the Dwyer Funeral Home. He was predeceased by a sister, Lenoir Ferguson, and two brothers, Harlow B. and Ellis H.
