Grace C. Navin

Grace C. "Girlie" Navin, 89, of 155 George St. died Saturday at Laurel Lake Center for Health and Rehabilitation in Lee. Born in Lenox on April 22, 1912, daughter of Edward T. and Grace Gorman Lahert, she was a 1931 graduate of Lenox High School and a 1934 graduate of the former St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsfield. She moved to Lee in 1970. Mrs. Navin was head nurse on the maternity ward at St. Luke's Hospital and, later, was a nursing instructor at Berkshire Medical Center. She retired in 1977. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and a member of the St. Luke's Alumni Association. Her husband, James E. Navin, whom she married Sept. 7, 1936, died Jan. 3, 2001. She leaves a daughter, Linda A. DeSimone of Somerville, four grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be tomorrow at 9:15 from KELLY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Mary's Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be today from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to Alzheimer's Association or to the American Diabetes Association, both in care of the funeral home.
