Veda May Burdick

Veda May Burdick, 86, of 33 South County Road died Saturday evening at home. Born in Irasburg, Vt., on Dec. 12, 1914, daughter of Roy C. and Gertrude Nichols Moody, she attended school there. She moved to North Adams as a young girl and worked for the Salvation Army for two years. She had been a resident of Florida 70 years. Mrs. Burdick was employed for several years by the former Gaevert Film Co. in Williamstown. She was a member and life deaconess of Florida Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, reading and cooking. Her husband, Howard A. Burdick, whom she married Dec. 24, 1930, died March 2, 1977. She leaves three sons, Gary A. Burdick of Wales, Howard J. Burdick of North Adams and Roy C. Burdick of Florida; a daughter, Gail A. LaGess of Florida; a sister, Pauline Burdick of Florida; 12 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be tomorrow at 11 at Florida Baptist Church. The Rev. Irving Mullette, pastor, and the Rev. Milford Knights, retired former pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Florida Church Cemetery. Calling hours at AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, North Adams, will be today from 5 to 8. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in her memory be made to Florida Baptist Church through the funeral home, 46 North Church St., 01247.
