Esmeralda Wilcox

Esmeralda Andrews Wilcox, 90, of 188 Pleasant St. died Friday at North Adams Commons, where she was admitted Jan. 3. Born in South Portland, Maine, on March 6, 1911, daughter of Edgar P. and Susan F. Mahar Chase, she came to North Adams as a child and attended schools there. Mrs. Wilcox was employed by the former Arnold Print Works in Adams and North Adams in the engraving room for 40 years, retiring several years ago. She was a life member of St. John's Episcopal Church and a member and past matron of the Naomi chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed reading biographies, knitting, sewing and cooking. She leaves her husband, Bonnar D. Wilcox, whom she married in May 1943, and a brother, Philip R. Chase of North Windham, Conn. The funeral and burial will be in Southview Cemetery, North Adams, at the convenience of the family. The Rev. Donald G. Place, rector of St. John's Episcopal Church, will officiate. There will be no calling hours. The family requests the omission of flowers and suggests donations in her memory be made to the St. John's Building Fund through AUGE- SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 46 North Church St., North Adams, MA 01247, which is in charge of arrangements.
