Bernice Ericson

Bernice M. Ericson, 87, formerly of 359 Crane Ave., died Tuesday at home at 24770 Lyonia Lane, Bonita Springs, Fla. Born in Pittsfield on May 21, 1914, daughter of John and Martha Hillmer Bence, she was a graduate of Pittsfield High School and the former Berkshire Business College. She was employed as an executive secretary in the general office at GE, retiring in 1954. In 1972, she became a licensed real estate broker and worked for the law firm of Flynn and Starr in Pittsfield as a legal secretary. She retired to move to Harvard in 1979. She was also a notary public. She had moved to Florida four years ago with her son, Alvin C. Ericson, from Harvard, where they had lived for 18 years. While in Pittsfield, Mrs. Ericson was a member of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Her husband, Alvin J. Ericson, whom she married Sept. 25, 1954, died April 12, 1972. She leaves her son. The funeral will be held Saturday at 11 at Pittsfield Cemetery with the Rev. Peter Boehringer, pastor of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating. There are no calling hours. Friends are asked to meet inside the cemetery gate at 10:45. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church Memorial and Special Gifts Fund. The WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201 is in charge of arrangements.
