Jessie T. Shafer

Jessie T. Shafer, 82, of 195 West Road died yesterday morning at home of a heart attack. Born in Adams on March 12, 1919, daughter of Anthony and Mary Michalek Oslizlo, she attended local schools. She was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams for many years. Mrs. Shafer was a member of the Notre Dame and St. Thomas Parish and a member of the Cheshire Senior Citizens. Her husband, Robert S. Shafer, whom she married Feb. 11, 1939, in Cheshire, died Sept. 25, 1995. She leaves three sons, John A. Shafer and Edward B. Shafer, both of Adams, and Robert S. Shafer Jr. of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; a daughter, Patricia Cardin of Adams; a brother, Stanley J. Oslizlo of North Adams; two sisters, Gladys Soucie and Phyllis Bentley, both of the state of Florida; 13 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. A daughter, Mary Guinan, died in 1985. The funeral is planned for Saturday morning at MCBRIDE FUNERAL HOME at a time to be announced. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery. Calling hours at McBride Funeral Home will be Friday from 6 to 8. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the charity of the donor's choice.
