Thomas J. Supka

Thomas J. Supka, 88, of 3 Clarendon St. died Wednesday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Thorndike on July 1, 1913, son of Martin and Katherine Drzal Supka, he moved to Pittsfield in 1918 and attended local schools. Mr. Supka was employed by GE Ordnance Systems as an inspector for 34 years, retiring in 1975. He previously was employed by Elmvale Woolen Mill. He was a communicant of Holy Family Church and a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners clubs. He was also a member of IUE Local 255 and the Pittsfield Veterans of Foreign Wars. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening. He leaves a brother, Edward J. Supka of Shallotte, N.C., and two sisters, Mary Loboda and Helen Stracuzzi, both of Pittsfield. The funeral will be Saturday, July 7, at 8:15 a.m. from DERY FUNERAL HOME, Pittsfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at Holy Family Church, with the Rev. Eugene Suszek, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be today from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Church in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield. Mr. Supka was predeceased by a brother and six sisters, and most recently by another sister, Viola W. Supka, who died Jan. 17, 1999.
