Dorothy Lemieux

Dorothy Lemieux, 93, of Berkshiretown Apartments died Saturday at Providence Care Center of Lenox, where she had resided since March. Born in Winooski, Vt., on Feb. 7, 1908, daughter of William and Lena Mongeon Viens, she was educated in St. Louis Convent in Winooski. She moved to Pittsfield in 1945. Mrs. Lemieux was employed by the former Elmvale Worsted Co. and the former Holden & Stone's department store. She was manager of the first lunch bar at Hancock Shaker Village, where she served her homemade pies, cakes and other baked goods to visitors. She was a communicant of Notre Dame Church and a member of its St. Ann's Guild. In 1997, nearly 100 relatives and friends attended a Mass in celebration of her 90th birthday. She enjoyed spending time with her family and making trips to Vermont. Her first husband, Leo Blondin, is deceased. Her husband, Leo Lemieux, died Sept. 24, 1973. She leaves a son, Robert Blondin of Norwich, Conn.; two daughters, Annita Bowler of Pittsfield and Norma Rennie of Corsicana, Texas; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. A daughter, Doris Blondin, died at birth. Services will be tomorrow at 9:15 from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 in Notre Dame Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be today from 5 to 9. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires Inc. in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., 01201.
