Genevieve Nesbit

Genevieve J. Nesbit, 88, of 350 West St. died July 4 at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility. Born in Pittsfield on Nov. 9, 1912, daughter of William and Alice Lawlor Blache, she attended local schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School. She later received a licensed practical nurse (LPN) degree from the Hillcrest Hospital Training Program. She moved to Florida in 1989, but returned to Pittsfield in 1999. Mrs. Nesbit served as an LPN at local hospitals for many years. She retired in 1974. After her retirement, she continued doing home care private duty nursing. She was a communicant of St. Mark's Church. Her husband, Donald H. Nesbit, whom she married Nov. 22, 1947, in St. Mark's Church, died April 24, 1970. She leaves two sons, Francis J. Nesbit of Aloha, Ore., and Donald H. "Rusty" Nesbit Jr. of Joppa Town, Md.; three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 14, at 10 a.m. at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME with burial to follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home.
