Robert F. Morey

Robert F. "Biff" Morey, 60, of 42 South St., Bernardston, died yesterday at Albany (N.Y.) Medical Center. Born in Adams on Feb. 6, 1941, son of Russell and Doris Green Morey, he graduated from Adams High School in 1959. He received a bachelor of science degree in secondary education in 1963 and his master's degree in school administration in 1971, both from the former North Adams State College. He had resided in Bernardston since 1973. Mr. Morey was the vice principal of C.T. Plunkett Junior High School from 1965 to 1968, vice principal of Adams Memorial Junior High School from 1968 to 1970, vice principal of Greenfield Junior High School, which later became the middle school, from 1973 to 1986, and director of curriculum and instruction at the Franklin County Technical School from 1987 to 1999. He retired in 1999. He was the secretary and chairman of the Adams Redevelopment Authority and also served on the Adams Housing Needs Committee. He was a precinct town meeting member in Adams and was on the town Planning Board in Bernardston. Mr. Morey was a member of Crumpin' Fox Golf Course in Bernardston, and he also enjoyed reading, gourmet cooking, skiing, fishing and traveling. Besides his parents of Adams, he leaves his wife of 20 years, the former Linda Bittman; a son, Todd P. Morey of Waterboro, Maine; a daughter, Alice E. Morey of Watertown; three brothers, Russell Morey of New Portland, Maine, William Morey of Pittsfield and John Morey of Adams, and two grandchildren. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, July 14, at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church in Northfield, with the Rev. John J. Ayers, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Center Cemetery in Bernardston. Calling hours will be Friday, July 13, from 6 to 9 p.m. at KOSTANSKI FUNERAL HOME, 220 Federal St., Greenfield. Memorial contributions may be made to the Robert "Biff" Morey Scholarship Fund, Franklin County Technical School, in care of Russ Kaubris, Industrial Boulevard, Turners Falls, MA 01376.
