Ruth A. Lewis

Ruth Alberta Lewis, 79, of 150 Ashland St., Apt. 305, died yesterday at North Adams Regional Hospital, where she was admitted Monday. Born in North Adams on Oct. 9, 1921, daughter of David and Catherine Brackley Post, she attended the former Brayton Elementary School. Mrs. Lewis was employed by Sprague Electric Co. for 20 years, retiring in 1971. She was a longtime communicant of the former Incarnation Church and a member of the Dr. George L. Curran Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 96 Ladies Auxiliary. Her husband, William E. Lewis, died Feb. 15, 1955. She leaves three sons, William D. Lewis of Pocatello, Idaho, David E. Lewis of North Adams and Bruce G. Lewis of Clinton; a daughter, Catherine E. Lewis of Apache Junction, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, North Adams. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, North Adams. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations in her memory be made to either the Mary Spitzer Center, North Adams, or to a charity of the donor's choice through the funeral home, 46 North Church St., North Adams, MA 01247.
