Carole B. Gwara

Carole B. Gwara, 60, of 38 Cambridge Ave. died yesterday of cancer at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on Nov. 27, 1940, daughter of Yolanda Donati Hickey and the late Thomas Hickey Sr., she was a 1959 graduate of Pittsfield High School. She and her husband, Frank E. Gwara, owned and operated Commercial Roofing. She also was co-owner of Aspinwall-Bayville Stables in Lenox with her daughter, Stacey Gwara. She was active in the horse community, locally and nationally. She and her husband were married in September 1963. Besides her husband and mother, of Pittsfield, and her daughter, of Pittsfield, she leaves a brother, Thomas E. Hickey Jr., president of the Pittsfield City Council. Private Graveside Services will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jimmy Fund, in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201, which is in charge of arrangements. She was predeceased by a brother, Stephen J. Hickey, who died June 10, 1972.
