Robert E. Scace

Robert E. Scace, 79, of 1150 Barker Road died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on Nov. 28, 1921, son of Franklin and Hannah Tierney Scace, he was a 1939 graduate of Pittsfield High School. A veteran of World War II, he served in the Army Air Corps in England. Mr. Scace owned and operated Scace Flower Farm on Barker Road. He was a member of the Pittsfield VFW Post 448 and the Polish Community Club. He enjoyed hunting, ice fishing, bird watching, square dancing and polka music. He also enjoyed wintering in Florida. He leaves two brothers, Franklin Scace of Pittsfield, with whom he resided, and Edward Scace of Roswell, Ga.; and three sisters, Mildred Helfer of Stephentown, N.Y., Mary Ketchum of Latham, N.Y., and Louise Filkins of Pittsfield. Services will be conducted Wednesday at 10:15 from DERY FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Mark's Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from 4 to 8. He was predeceased by two brothers, William and Warren Scace, and by a sister, Ruth Scace Carpenter.
