Carlton D. Lockenwitz

Carlton D. "Butch" Lockenwitz, 61, of 28 Clinton Ave. died yesterday morning from injuries suffered in an auto accident late Sunday night in Lenox. Born in South Lee on Oct. 30, 1939, son of Theodore H. and Dorothy Manchester Lockenwitz, he was educated in Lee schools. While in Lee, he was employed as a tree surgeon until moving to Cleveland, Texas, in 1976, where he worked as a union carpenter for 10 years before returning to the Berkshires. He had worked as a security guard for Global Security in Lanesboro and, since November, for Guard Plus 24 Security of North Adams. He enjoyed fishing. His wife, the former Henrietta "Penny" Armstrong, whom he married Oct. 28, 1961, died Dec. 28, 1996. He leaves a brother, Robert B. Lockenwitz of Lee; five sisters, Dorothy M. Mange of Pittsfield, Virginia C. Bridges of Long Beach, Calif., Lois M. Brogan of Stockbridge, Beverly J. Funk of Greenburg, Pa., and Carol J. Scapin of Great Barrington. The funeral will be Thursday at 9 at KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee, with the Rev. John T. Tarrant, rector of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Stockbridge, officiating. Burial wil follow in Fairmount Cemetery in Lee. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 4 to 6. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to the American Lung Association in care of the funeral home.
