John J. Kenney Jr.

John J. Kenney Jr., 61, of 65 Columbus Ave. died Monday at home. Born in Worcester on July 1, 1940, son of John J. Kenney Sr. and Dorothy Beaudreau Kenney, he attended schools there. He served in the Marines Corps from 1957 to 1960, attaining the rank of private E1. Mr. Kenney was a caretaker at Notre Dame Church for several years. He was most recently employed by Petco until this past May. He was a communicant of Notre Dame Church and enjoyed freshwater and deep-sea fishing. He leaves his wife, the former Barbara J. Reynolds, whom he married Dec. 9, 1960; two sons, John J. Kenney III and Daniel J. Kenney, both of Pittsfield; three daughters, Laurrie A. Starbird and Cheryl A. Wood, both of Pittsfield, and Debra A. Mayernik of Lanesboro; two brothers, Philip B. Kenney of Oxford and Joseph Kenney of Worcester, and 12 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 19, at 11 a.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, with the Rev. Earl A. Hebert, pastor of Notre Dame Church, officiating. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours will be held at Dery Funeral Home today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, contributions may be made to the Kenney family in care of the funeral home.
