Rita P. Pedrin

Rita Pauline Pedrin, 85, of 85 Eagle St., St. Joseph's Court, died Monday at Williamstown Commons. Born in North Adams on Feb. 1, 1916, daughter of Frank and Pauline LeGrand Fortini, she attended North Adams schools, including Drury High School. She was employed by Sprague Electric Co. for more than 20 years and then established in the 1950s, with her husband, Julio, the Pedrin's Flowers Shop, which they operated for six years. They then established the Pedrin's Dairy Bar and went into partnership with Charles Pedrin in the operation of Pedrin's Golf Driving Range on Curran Highway. They operated Pedrin's Miniature Golf Course until selling the business in the early 1970s and retiring. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church and a member of the Sprague Electric Quarter Century Club. Her husband, Julio Louis Pedrin, whom she married Sept. 6, 1937, in St. Anthony of Padua Church, died Sept. 10, 2000. She leaves three sisters, Veronica Landry, Barbara Rondeau and Bernadette Barbeau, all of North Adams, and two brothers, William Fortini of Adams and Robert Fortini of North Adams. She was predeceased by a son, the Rev. Dennis J. Pedrin, former pastor of the Faith Assembly of God Church in Holyoke and former associate pastor of Bethel Pentecostal Church in North Adams. A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Rita Pauline Fortini Pedrin will be celebrated Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, North Adams, with the Rev. Daniel O'Hear, pastor, as celebrant. Burial will follow in the family plot in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. There are no calling hours.
