Esther L. Cuene

Esther L. Cuene, 92, of 382 Bradley St. died Saturday at home. Born in Russell on April 20, 1909, daughter of Charles and Nellie Crawford Filkins, she moved to Lee as a child and attended local schools. Mrs. Cuene was employed by the former Lee Steam Laundry and later worked in the kitchen at Berkshire Hills North nursing home for a number of years. She retired in 1984. She was a member of St. George's Episcopal Church. Her husband, Eugene J. Cuene, whom she married Dec. 18, 1926, in Hillsdale, N.Y., died May 1, 1967. She leaves two sons, Eugene Cuene and William Cuene, both of Lee; a daughter, Elizabeth A. Rozon of Lee; 14 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. The funeral will be Wednesday morning at 10 at KELLY FUNERAL HOME in Lee. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Lee. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing may make donations to the Lee Visiting Nurse Association or to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home.
