Mary A. Tassone

Mary Ann Tassone, 72, of 1292 Massachusetts Ave. died Saturday at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, where she was admitted July 13. Born in North Adams on June 25, 1929, daughter of John and Mildred Hudgins Mahoney, she attended Drury High School. Mrs. Tassone was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. for a few years before working in the cafeterias at Drury High and at Mount Greylock Regional High School. She retired in 1986. She was a communicant of the former Incarnation Church. In her youth, she was a member of the North Adams Skating Club and won several medals for speed skating. She leaves her husband, John B. Tassone, whom she married Oct. 23, 1948, in St. Francis' Church; two daughters, Karen L. Foote of Adams and Lynn A. Riordan of North Adams; two sons, Craig R. Tassone of Virginia Beach, Va., and Christopher J. Tassone of North Adams; a sister, Elizabeth Dougherty of North Adams; a brother, William B. Mahoney of Lodi, Calif., and seven grandchildren. The funeral will be tomorrow morning at 8:15 from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, with a Mass at 9 at Our Lady of Mercy Shrine, Massachusetts Avenue, North Adams. Burial in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be today from 4 to 8. Donations to Oncology Unit at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in care of funeral home. A grandson, Christopher M. Lefave, died July 6, 1986. Predeceased by siblings Dorothy Garofano, John Mahoney and Daniel Mahoney, who died during World War II.
