Charlotte Tedford

Charlotte D. Tedford, 71, of 89 Crane Ave. died Saturday in the Berkshire Medical Center emergency room in Pittsfield. Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 14, 1930, daughter of George and Emma Chase Phillips, she was a 1941 graduate of Pittsfield High School. She was employed by Meridian Associates as a resident assistant for 14 years, retiring in 1994. Mrs. Tedford was a member of First Church of Christ, Congregational, in Pittsfield, where she served as a deacon, with the Prayer Circle and on the hospitality committee. She was also a member of AFSCME Union and enjoyed karaoke, singing, playing bingo and taking trips to casinos. She participated in school activities when her children were in school. Her husband, Norman G. Tedford Sr., whom she married June 16, 1956, died March 25, 1999. She leaves two sons, George Tedford and Norman G. Tedford Jr., both of Dalton; two daughters, Diane Tedford of Becket and Mary Tedford of Brooklyn, N.Y.; five brothers, Roger Phillips of Las Vegas, Hector Phillips of Spartanburg, S.C., and George Phillips, Carl Phillips and Ronald Phillips, all of Pittsfield; a sister, Helen Errichetto of Pittsfield, and eight grandchildren. The funeralwill be Wednesday at 2 at First Church of Christ, Congregational, in Pittsfield with the Rev. David Jordan, minister of visitation, and the Rev. Gerald Henspicker, interim pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Ashuelot Cemetery, Dalton. Calling hours at BARTLETT-WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME in Dalton will be tomorrow from 4 to 7.
