Christina Gifford

Christina Gifford, 89, of Catskill, N.Y., died yesterday at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, N.Y., where she was admitted Monday. She was the mother of Elizabeth Kiriakedes of the Ashley Falls section of Sheffield. Born in New York City on April 18, 1912, daughter of Charles and Bessie Hallet, she was a graduate of Greenville Free Academy. She also graduated from the Albany Medical Nursing College in 1933. She was a registered nurse at Memorial Hospital in Catskill until her retirement in 1974. She was a 50-year plus member of the Maranatha Valley Chapter No. 38 Order of the Eastern Star, the On-Ti-Ora Chapter NSDAR and the First Reformed Church of Catskill. Her husband, David H. Gifford, is deceased. Besides her daughter, she leaves a son, Edward Gifford of Schenectady, N.Y.; a brother, Charles Abrams of Newport News, Va.; six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
