E. Barbara Rudd

E. Barbara Cronin Rudd, 78, of 182 Ashuelot St. died Tuesday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on Sept. 20, 1922, daughter of John T. and Elizabeth Sitzman Cronin, she attended the former St. Joseph's Grammar School and was a 1940 graduate of St. Joseph's High School. She also graduated from the former St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing. A private duty registered nurse, she also did general duty nursing and retired in 1984 with 41 years of service. Mrs. Rudd was a communicant of St. Agnes' Church and a member of its Rosary Sodality. She also was a member of St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association. Her husband of 21 years, Edward W. Rudd Sr., whom she married Feb. 11, 1945, died Feb. 13, 1966. She leaves a son, Edward W. Rudd Jr. of Dalton; two daughters, Nancy A. Burch of Pittsfield and Jayne E. St. John of Dalton; three sisters, Mary McManus of Corinna, Maine, Ann Gramkowski of Collingswood, N.J., and Dolores Daigle of Avon; six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother, John W. Cronin, and her dear friend, Marge Haley. Calling hours at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME will be Friday from 5 to 8. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 8 a.m., followed with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Agnes' Church. Burial will follow in the Ashuelot Street Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Dalton Ambulance Fund or to St. Agnes' School Library in care of the funeral home.
