Joseph LaPlante

Joseph B. LaPlante, 92, of 176 Columbus Ave., Berkshiretown Apartments, died Monday at home. Born in Pittsfield on April 30, 1909, son of Henry and Helen Delaney LaPlante, he attended local schools. Mr. LaPlante was employed by General Electric Co. as a machinist, retiring in 1971 with 34 years of service. He was a longtime communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a member of its Holy Name Society. He also was a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners clubs. His wife of 53 years, the former Eleanor F. Mahoney, died Dec. 12, 1988. He leaves two sons, Joseph A. LaPlante of Watertown and John F. LaPlante of Pittsfield; four grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter. Calling hours at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME will be Thursday from 4 to 7. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 9:15 from the funeral home, followed with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at Sacred Heart Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to either Sacred Heart Church and/or St. Joseph's Church, in care of the funeral home.
