Elizabeth W. McGrath, 73
WEST STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. — Elizabeth W. "Betty" McGrath, 73, of Swamp Road died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. She was a long-serving member of the West Stockbridge Cemetery Board, retiring in 1998.
Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 7, 1927, daughter of Francis and Mary Northrup Van Slyck, she attended Pittsfield High School.
Mrs. McGrath was employed by GE and by the former Sheaffer-Eaton. She retired from Kmart in Great Barrington in 1994.
She was a 50-year member of West Stockbridge Pomona Grange and of the state and national Granges.
Her husband, Edward P. McGrath Sr., whom she married June 15, 1946, died in 1999.
She leaves a son, Edward P. McGrath Jr. and his wife, Pat, of West Stockbridge; a brother, Francis Van Slyck of Florida; three grandsons, Edward, Stephen and Kyle; four great-grandchildren, Sean, Chloe, Michael and Cassandra, and 12 nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sister, Mary Ellen French.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mrs. McGrath will be Thursday, Jan. 4, at 2 at West Stockbridge Congregational Church, with the Rev. Allison Stokes officiating. Burial will follow in West Stockbridge Village Cemetery.
