Dorothy E. Hoxie

Dorothy Elizabeth Hoxie, 80, of 31 Jericho Road died Sunday at home. She had resided in Hinsdale since 1945. Born in Dalton on June 6, 1921, daughter of Francis and Bessie Lyman Crossett, she was a graduate of the former Dalton High School. During World War II, she was employed by General Electric Co. A homemaker, she enjoyed gardening, growing plants, and her dogs. Her husband, Franklin M. Hoxie, whom she married Nov. 28, 1945, died Jan. 7, 1991. She leaves a sister-in-law, Elaine Vranas, with whom she made her home. The funeral will be Thursday, Aug. 23, at 11 at DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, Dalton, with the Rev. John A. Koonz officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Street Cemetery, Hinsdale. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 890 East Main St., Dalton, MA 01226.
