John C. Bobalko

John C. Bobalko, 82, of Gainsville, Fla., formerly of Pittsfield, died Aug. 13 at North Central Florida Hospital in Gainsville. Born in New York City on Oct. 6, 1919, son of Andrew and Mary Mihok Bobalko, he attended high school in Cliffside, N.J. He was a World War II veteran and was stationed in Hawaii. Mr. Bobalko was employed by General Electric Co. for 33 years before retiring to Florida. His wife of more than 50 years, the former Pearl Ellen Perry, died May 15, 1999. He leaves two sons, Donald Bobalko of Natick and Larry Bobalko of Seffner, Fla.; three daughters, Andrea Stahan of Leominster, Susan Godek of Gainsville and Judith Webb of Bellingham; a brother, Eugene Bobalko of Brentwood, Calif.; three sisters, Mary Bobalko of Cliffside Park, N.J., Joan Westelle of Ashland, Ore., and Doris Dimmick of Fort Lee, N.J.; seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. A joint memorial service for John and his deceased wife, Pearl, will be held at the firehouse in Austerlitz, N.Y., on Saturday, Sept. 8, at 11 a.m. Burial for both will be at the Austerlitz Cemetery at noon on said day. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Austerlitz Cemetery in care of Bob Herron, Austerlitz, NY 12017.
