Michael L. Sage

Michael Leo Sage, 34, of 15 Belmar Drive died yesterday in North Adams. Born in North Adams on Sept. 8, 1966, son of Ronald P. Sage Sr. and Barbara J. Andrews Sage, his family resided in Readsboro, Vt., and he attended schools there. He graduated from Drury High School in 1984. Mr. Sage was a veteran of the Marine Corps, serving from 1984 until his honorable discharge with the rank of lance corporal in 1988. While in the Marines, he worked in electronics and maintained harrier jets in Cherry Point, N.C. He also served on the Cherry Point Marine Corps Drill Team and was active in the Marine Corps Youth Soccer League. After his military service, he returned to North Adams and joined the New England Telephone Co., now Verizon, where he was working at the time of his death. Mr. Sage was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church and a coach for the Hoosac Tunnel Youth Soccer League. He enjoyed sports and playing golf. Besides his parents of North Adams, he leaves his wife, the former Paula J. Cutler, whom he married July 17, 1987, in St. Francis of Assisi Church; a daughter, Meaghan E. Sage, at home; a brother, Ronald P. Sage Jr. of North Adams; two sisters, Heather J. Sage and Penelope H. Benoni, both of North Adams; his paternal grandparents, Wallace and Thelma Nutting Sage of Port Richey, Fla., and his maternal grandmother, Elsie Sorel Andrews Cote of North Adams. The funeral is Friday at 10:15 a.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams. Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Burial in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Donations to the Hoosac Tunnel Youth Soccer league in care of the funeral home. Also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
