Rose C. Guettler

Rose Carol Guettler, 82, of 80 Porter St. died Wednesday at North Adams Commons. Born in North Adams on Jan. 13, 1919, daughter of Louis and Eugenia Louise Garello Cantone, she attended North Adams schools and graduated from Drury High School in 1937. She also graduated from the former Bliss Business College in 1939. Mrs. Guettler was employed as a night school teacher at Drury, where she taught business courses and shorthand. She also was a substitute teacher in the business department at the high school from 1960 until 1985. She was a longtime communicant of St. Francis' Church and a longtime member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court Margaret 629, where she was a past regent. Her husband, Ralph George Guettler, whom she married Aug. 17, 1946, in St. Anthony's Church in North Adams, died Nov. 4, 1995. She leaves two sons, Robert A. Guettler of North Adams and Mark G. Guettler of Savoy; a brother, Peter L. Cantone of North Adams, and three grandchildren. The funeral will be Monday morning at 10:15 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, North Adams. Burial will follow in the family plot in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday from 5 to 8. Memorial donations are suggested for North Adams Elder Services through the funeral home.
