Verna A. Trottier

Verna Anna Trottier, 66, of 49 Middle Road died yesterday at home after a short illness. Born in North Adams on Feb. 16, 1935, daughter of John and Filomena Federico Canale, she attended North Adams schools and graduated from Drury High School in 1952. In her younger years, she was employed by Lamb's Stationery Store on Main Street and by Sprague Electric Co. She later established Reflections Beauty Salon at 85 Main St., which she operated until her retirement in 1985. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Anthony's Church in North Adams and a volunteer on its Bazaar Committee. She enjoyed being a homemaker. She leaves her husband, Paul Alphonse Trottier, whom she married June 26, 1954, in St. Anthony's Church; four daughters, Lynn Ann Trombley of Youngsville, N.C., Debora Ann MacDonald of Clarksburg, Lisa Ann Gazaille of Adams, and Lori Ann Hickey of Danbury, Conn.; two sons, Air Force Lt. Col. David Paul Trottier of Oakton, Va., and Alan Paul Trottier of Clarksburg; two brothers, John Nicholas Canale of Clarksburg and Robert Joseph Canale of Clarksburg, a North Adams police detective, and 11 grandchildren. A daughter, Judith Ann Trottier, died Feb. 2, 1965. The funeral will be Monday, Aug. 27, at 8 a.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by services at 9 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 70 Marshall St., North Adams. Burial in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday, Aug. 26, from 3 to 7. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire through the funeral home, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247. She was predeceased by a daughter, Judith Ann Trottier on Feb. 2, 1965, and a sister, Marie Canale Eichorn on Jan. 9, 1991.
