Linda A. Bissaillon, 71
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Linda A. Bissaillon, 71, of 70 Angeli St. died Saturday, July 31, 2010, at home.
Born in North Adams on June 5, 1939, a daughter of Casimir and Anna DeNucci Walczak, she attended schools in North Adams, including Drury High School.
Mrs. Billaillon was employed as a certified nursing assistant for 25 years at several area nursing homes and most recently at Brayton Elementary School as a teacher's aide in the foster grandparents program.
She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church and a former member of the North Adams Housing Authority Board and the Northern Berkshire Community Coalition board of directors. She was the recipient of the NBCC's 2002 Peacemaker Award and served on the Executive Committee of the Greylock Housing Coalition. This past May, the Greylock Valley Playground was dedicated in her name.
Survivors include her former husband, Joseph Bissaillon of North Adams; two daughters, Laurie Helms and her husband, Rick, of Niceville, Fla., and Penny Huttle and her husband, Fran, of North Adams; a son, Ronald Bissaillon and his longtime companion, Cheryl Gavazzi, of North Adams; several siblings whose names were not provided; four grandchildren, Kaitlyn, who was her grandmother's primary caregiver, Chase, Karlee and Emma, two great-grandchildren, Carter and Alexa, and her caregivers Rusty Amos, Terry and Jim Blair. and many loving friends who supported her through the years.
She was predeceased by her daughter Catherine Bissaillon
FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Mrs. Bissaillon will take place Wednesday, Aug. 4, at 10:15 from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Elizabeth Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
Calling Hours will be Tuesday, Aug. 3, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested for the St. Jude Children's Hospital through the funeral home.
