Elizabeth P. Coy

Elizabeth P. Coy, 96, formerly of Berkshiretown Apartments died Saturday afternoon at Hillcrest Commons. Born in Pittsfield on March 8, 1905, daughter of Henry and Angeline Boden Gladu, she graduated from the former St. Joseph's Grammar School and attended St. Joseph's High School. A lifelong resident, Mrs. Coy retired as manager of the luncheonette at the former J.J. Newberry's on North Street. Before that she was employed by the former Eaton, Crane & Pike Paper Co. She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church and a member of its Rosary Sodality. Her husband, Joseph G. Coy, whom she married Oct. 8, 1923, at St. Joseph's Church, died Jan. 11, 1983. She leaves two sons, Joseph W. Coy of Spring Hill, Fla., and Thomas H. Coy of Pittsfield; a daughter, Elizabeth H. Wechter Pregent of Pittsfield; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Another daughter, Marion E. Baker Garrity, died Feb. 14, 1985. Calling hours at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME will be TUESDAY from 4 to 7. The funeral will be WEDNESDAY morning at 8:15 from the funeral home, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at St. Joseph's Church celebrated by the Rev. Michael A. Shershanovich, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph's Church in care of the funeral home.
