Joan P. Lindy

Joan P. Lindy, 87, of 272 Dalton Ave. died Saturday at Springside of Pittsfield, where she had resided for a month. Born in Pittsfield on June 26, 1914, daughter of Gustav and Amelia Schilke Radke, she attended local schools. Mrs. Lindy was employed by Castine Moving Co. as a packer, retiring in 1979 with 10 years of service. Before that, she was employed by GE and by the former Eaton Paper Co. An active member of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church, she also was a member of the Women's Club, AARP, the Senior Center and General Electric Athletic Association. She enjoyed growing and arranging flowers, and was an avid bowler and golfer. She and her husband, John V. Lindy, celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary June 26. Besides her husband, she leaves a sister, Harriett R. Halsey of Niskayuna, N.Y. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield, with the Rev. Peter Boehringer, pastor of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from 10 to 11. If friends desire, donations in her memory are suggested to the Memorial and Special Gifts Fund at Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
