William Charron

William George Charron, 103, of Ashland Park Apartments, 150 Ashland St., died Thursday at North Adams Regional Hospital, where he had been admitted Aug. 19. Born in North Adams on May 29, 1898, son of George and Adele Cardinal Charron, he attended schools in North Adams, including the former Notre Dame School. He graduated from the former Drury Academy. Mr. Charron was employed with the Greylock division of Berkshire Fine Spinning Associates on State Road for 33 years. Before his retirement in 1969, he was employed for 10 years with Sprague Electric Co. A communicant of Notre Dame Church, he was a member of the Mary Spitzer Center and a former member of the Greylock Community, Lafayette and the Retired Men's clubs. His first wife, the former Evelina Tanguay, whom he married Sept. 27, 1920, died Feb. 18, 1979. His second wife, the former Frieda Pullen Slater Theberge, whom he married May 3, 1980, died Nov. 7, 1984. He leaves two daughters, Theresa Robert of Williamstown and Phyllis Therrien of Chicago; a stepson, Thomas Slater of North Adams; two stepdaughters, Ethel Cote and Helen Miller, both of North Adams; a brother, Norman Charron of thestate of Florida; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. Funeral services will be Monday, Aug. 27, at 1:15 from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by services at 2 at Our Lady of Mercy Shrine, Massachusetts Avenue, North Adams. Burial in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday, Aug. 27, from 12:30 until the funeral. Donations are suggested for the cancer fund or any charity through the funeral home. Predeceased by a granddaughter, Nancy Law Goss, on March 27, 1989, and sisters and brothers, including Gerta Charron, Rose Charron, Viola Kenyon, Mary Bassett, Irene Rivers, Helen Lefevbre, Henry Charron, Frank Charron and Raymond Charron.
