Clinton E. Hine

Clinton E. Hine, 80, of 63 Bailey Road died yesterday morning at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Connecticut on Nov. 11, 1920, son of Arthur and Phoebe Clark Hine, he attended Lanesboro schools. He was a World War II Navy veteran and served in the Pacific and European theaters. Mr. Hine was employed as a truck driver and as an operating engineer for Hutchinson Sand and Gravel for more than 20 years. He later worked for Petricca Sand and Gravel for 10 years. He was known for his Belgian workhorses and the implements he made for them. His wife, the former Lillian M. Sime, whom he married May 4, 1946, in St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Lanesboro, died June 4, 2001. He leaves a son, the Rev. David C. Hine of East Chester, Nova Scotia; a stepbrother, Robert; a stepsister, Isabel, and three grandchildren. He leaves a son, the Rev. David C. Hine of East Chester, Nova Scotia; a stepbrother, Robert; a stepsister, Isabel, and three grandchildren. The funeral will be Thursday, Aug. 30, at 11 at DWYER FUNERAL HOME, with the Rev. David C. Hine, his son, officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Lanesboro. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday, Aug. 29, from 5 to 7. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Berkshire County division of the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
