Raymond Bissaillon

Raymond A. Bissaillon Sr., 73, of 1 Seminole Drive died yesterday at North Adams Regional Hospital. A former longtime resident of Clarksburg, Mr. Bissaillon served as chief of the Clarksburg Volunteer Fire Department and as town constable, and was a member of the Clarksburg Board of Health. Born in North Adams on May 13, 1928, son of Raymond and Vitaline Roberts Bissaillon, he was a 1946 graduate of the former Drury High Trade School. Mr. Bissaillon was vice president of R.I. Baker Co. Inc. in Clarksburg, retiring in 1988 with more than 40 years of service. Before that, he worked for a few years at the former Sprague Electric Co. After his retirement, he worked part time as a consultant for R.I. Baker and for Modern Aluminum Co. He was a communicant of Notre Dame Church. In his later years, he served as president of the Booster Club of McCann Technical High School. He and his wife, the former Beatrice B. Brazeau, would have celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary Sept. 20. Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Raymond A. Bissaillon Jr. of Clarksburg, David A. Bissaillon of North Adams and Paul R. Bissaillon of Auburn; four daughters, Dorothy A. Lohnes of Virginia Beach, Va., Judith E. Condron of Dalton, Mary L. Herter of Wichita, Kan., and Patricia M. Kolis of Adams; two sisters, Ruth Blue of Warwick, R.I., and Joan Ziter of Taunton; 10 grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter. The funeral will be Thursday at 9:15 from AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at Notre Dame Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 4 to 8. Memorial donations may be made to the Clarksburg Volunteer Fire Department or to Notre Dame Church through the funeral home, 46 North Church St., North Adams, MA 01247. His brother, Robert Bissaillon, died in 1975.
