HELEN B. FORTIER

Helen B. Fortier, 85, of 61 Langlois Ave. died early yesterday morning at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in Adams on Oct. 22, 1915, daughter of Alexander and Kamilia Demby Cwalinski, she attended St. Stanislaus' School. She was employed by the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Co. in Adams for many years as a spinner and by the former Cornish Wire Co. in Williamstown for many years, retiring in 1975. She moved to Williamstown in 1983. Mrs. Fortier was a communicant of St. Stanislaus' Church. Her husband, Edmund Fortier, whom she married Oct. 29, 1938, died Nov. 25, 1979. She leaves a brother, Zygmund Cwalinski of Adams; and two sisters, Gladys Rutkowski of Waltham and Alice Baczek of Adams. The funeral for Helen Cwalinski Fortier will be Tuesday, Jan. 2, at 9 from TROTTIER-PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Stanislaus' Church celebrated by the Rev. John C. Chwalek, pastor. Burial will be at a later date at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 8:30 until the time of the funeral. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Brightside Orphanage in Holyoke or to St. Stanislaus Kostka Church through the funeral home, 6 Summer St., Adams, MA 01220. Mrs. Fortier was predeceased by three brothers, Walter and Stanley Cwalinski and attorney Alexander A. Cwalinski, and a sister, Sophie Natoli.
