Thomas Salzarulo

Thomas V. "Timmy" Salzarulo, 76, of 193 South Mountain Road died Monday at Albany Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on March 29, 1925, son of Anthony and Katherine Puia Salzarulo, he attended local schools. He also attended Springfield Airmen Technical School. He served in World War II from 1943 until 1946. Mr. Salzarulo was the owner and operator of the former Kaiser-Frasier car dealership and Pittsfield Used Car Exchange, and was a salesman at Federal Liquors, Williams Distributing and Country Club Distillers. He was most recently employed as an auto mechanic instructor for the Berkshire County House of Correction for 10 years. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and a member of its Holy Name Society. He also was a member of the Pittsfield Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, cards, boating, music, dancing, auto mechanics, and his family and grandchildren. He leaves his wife, the former Jean E. Castronova, whom he married Nov. 6, 1948; three daughters, Karen Jean Salzarulo of Westport, Conn., Debra Ann Salzarulo of Brandon, Vt., and Ann Marie Salzarulo-McGuigan of North Kingstown, R.I.; two sisters, Rose Senger and Josephine May, both of Pittsfield; three brothers, Ralph Salzarulo of El Cajon, Calif., Anthony Salzarulo of Simi Valley, Calif., and Richard Salzarulo of Ponte Vedro Beach, Fla., and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday at 9:15 a.m. from DERY FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, celebrated by the Rev. Geoffrey Deeker CSS, pastor. Entombment will take place at a later date in the St. Michael the Archangel Chapel Mausoleum. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. The Holy Name Society and Ladies Guild will have a service at 7. He was also predeceased by three brothers, Gerald, Joe and Lawrence. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mount Carmel Church Centennial Organ Fund or Hospice Care of the Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield 01201.
