Alice E. Monette, 91
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Alice Edna Monette, 91, of 14 West Shaft Road, died Sunday, March 27, 2011, at Sweet Brook Care Centers in Williamstown.
Born in Lynn on Sept. 9, 1919, daughter of Wilfred and Alice Smith Roussin, she attended St. Mary's School in Lynn and came to North Adams at age 19.
Mrs. Monette was employed at the former Sprague Electric Co. for 31 years until her retirement in 1982.
She was a communicant of Notre Dame du Sacre Coeur Church. She enjoyed reading and crocheting.
She married her husband, Norman Monette, on June 8, 1940. He died on Sept. 25, 2001.
She leaves a daughter, Marion P. Pontier of North Adams; two sisters, Marion O'Brien of Haverhill and Pearl Anna Howard of Manchester, N.H.; four grandchildren, Michael Pontier of North Adams, Jeffrey Pontier of Adams, Anthony Pontier of Florida, and Christopher Monette of Pittsfield; three great-grandchildren, Sara Pontier, Jacob Pontie and Brittani Pontier, and a daughter-in-law, Mary Monette of Pittsfield.
Her son, Norman Monette died on April 12, 2007. A brother died in infancy.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mrs. Monette will be Friday, April 1, at 10:15 a.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Thursday, March 31, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in care of the funeral home.
