William O. Barbeau, 71
HANCOCK, Mass. - William O. Barbeau, 71, of 2161 Hancock Road, died Saturday, April 30, 2011, at Berkshire Medical Center, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Barbeau was born in Adams on July 10, 1939, son of Rouville and Regina Clermont Barbeau. He attended the former Notre Dame Parochial School in North Adams and graduated from Drury High School.
He married Patricia M. Dupuis on Nov. 5, 1960.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam.
He was employed by Verizon for 32 years until his retirement in 1998.
He was a communicant of Notre Dame du Sacre Coeur Church. He was a member of the North Adams Elks Lodge; the Frank R. Stiles Post No. 125 American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Dr. George L. Curran Post No. 996. He enjoyed photography, travel and hunting.
Survivors include his wife, daughter Paige Gleason of Florida, son Scott Barbeau and his wife, Jodi, of Hancock, brothers Bernard Barbeau of Adams and Richard Barbeau of North Adams, sister Lorraine Lepel of Phoenix, Ariz., six grandchildren, one great-grandaughter and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers Robert Barbeau and Francis E. Barbeau.
FUNERAL NOTICE: - The funeral for William Barbeau will be Tuesday, May 3, at 8:15 a.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. A Funeral Mass will follow at 9 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview cemetery. Calling hours are Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the North Adams Fire Department or the North Adams Ambulance Service in care of the funeral home.
